Industry Work Placements โ€“ Study Programme Students

As part of your Study Programme, you will be expected to complete an Industry Work Placement (also known as voluntary work experience). This is a vital part of your learning and development and helps you gain real-world experience in your chosen sector.

๐Ÿ’ผ Why Work Placements Matter

Work placements are an opportunity for you to:

  • Gain hands-on experience in a real working environment
  • Develop industry-relevant skills and knowledge
  • Build confidence and professionalism
  • Improve your CV and future job or apprenticeship applications
  • Make valuable connections within your chosen field

Employers value students who have real-world experienceโ€”it shows you’re reliable, motivated, and ready to step into the workplace.

๐Ÿงญ How We Support You

We are committed to helping you succeed in finding a meaningful and rewarding placement. Our team will:

  • Work with you to identify suitable employers in your industry area
  • Support you in preparing CVs, letters, and applications
  • Offer guidance and coaching on how to approach employers
  • Ensure you are placement-ready, with help from your tutors and centre manager
  • Maintain weekly contact between ourselves and your placement provider to track your progress

Weโ€™ll also prepare you through in-centre sessions on topics such as:

  • Interview preparation
  • Health and safety in the workplace
  • Professional conduct and expectations

๐Ÿ”Ž Your Responsibility

While we provide full support, itโ€™s important that you also take ownership of finding a placement. You are expected to:

  • Actively search for suitable voluntary work experience opportunities
  • Approach employers where possible, either in person, by email or phone
  • Work with staff to ensure the placement is safe, appropriate, and aligned with your course
  • Attend reliably and behave professionally once your placement begins

Placements must be approved by the Centre Manager before starting. E.Quality Training will carry out a workplace risk assessment and regularly check and communicate with your employer to ensure everything is going smoothly.

๐Ÿ“… Monitoring & Progress

Once your placement is underway:

  • Youโ€™ll complete a log of your hours and tasks
  • Your employer will provide feedback on your performance
  • Youโ€™ll have weekly check-ins
  • Any concerns or issues will be addressed promptly to support your progress

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Need Help Getting Started?

If youโ€™re unsure how to begin your placement search or need help speaking to an employer, donโ€™t worryโ€”weโ€™re here to help every step of the way.

Speak to your Tutor or Centre Manager if you require any further guidance.
