Celebrating Apprentice Success! Well Done, Amanda.

28 Jul 2023

I started working in care 5 years ago after I had spent time caring for a close friend who was suffering from Bowel Cancer. After he passed away, I realised I had more to give and decided to move away from retail and into the care sector. I joined a community care company, Mediline, where I worked for 3 years. During my time with Mediline I experienced promotion from carer to senior carer and then moved onto a care coordinator role. I learnt so much in this role whilst managing the care in 2 areas of Derby.

In April 2021 I realised how much I missed working with people and went to a local care agency to go back into care. During my time at Caring at Home, I was offered the chance to be Care Co-Ordinator and to do my Apprenticeship where I started my Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker. I was excited to complete this and began the research to complete assignments.

After only being at Home Instead for 12 months there was an opportunity for further learning as the position of Training Manager became available. I have now been the trainer for Home Instead for 6 months. The company has supported my learning throughout this journey, I have completed many Train the Trainer courses and worked hard to make the delivery exciting and engaging. I am now delivering Dementia training, End of Life training, Manual Handling & Basic Life support to name a few. I have found out that through my passion for care I can also teach how to deliver good care, which is the least our aging community deserves.

I received a Distinction on my final End Point Assessment result for my Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 which I am delighted with.

Amanda – Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker.
